Late Night

One of our kids favorite things to do is to have a late night with friends. This usually involves a few night games, lots of popcorn and treats and a movie, pj's and lots of giggles. This is a regular weekend occurance in our neighborhood, where we all take a turn as moms. Our friends, the Turners, usually have the movie on their vinyl fence. When the movie is over, we walk them home in the dark. We decided to take a picture this weekend because two of these families might be moving and the girls wanted a picture of their friends. Since the girls have a much better social life than me, I thought I would blog about them.

Corn Maze

Last weekend we went to the CORNMAZE at the AMERICAN WEST HERITAGE CENTER. When you first get there you climb in a COVERED WAGON that will take you out to the corn maze. After getting lost in the corn maze for about a half an hour we made our way back to the entrance where they told us to just stay left. So.... at every turn we could, we stayed left and finally made it out. It was actually really fun, and the KIDS loved to just run around in the DARK, trying to find their way out. We kept bumping into the same people at every turn.

Next we went to the BLACK OUT MAZE in a building that was pitch dark and had lots of walls that we kept bumping into. Outside they had a ton of HALLOWEEN light up designs, a place to throw baseballs at milk bottles, gun shooting, and wooden horses to ride. There was also HAY jumping where the kids could jump into huge piles of hay and a kiddie maze.

Before we left, we had a cup of HOT CHOCOLATE by the fire.

Artists at work

These are some sculptures the kids made with modeling clay. I thought they were so fun and its so hard to save all their work, so I thought if I took a picture and posted it to our blog, the kids would enjoy it down the road.

Catching up

I know I haven't blogged in awhile, so today I sat down with my list of things I wanted to write about. This is what we have been up to in the last few months.

- watching the 2008 Summer Olympics. (I was a couch potato)
- running Jaiden to soccer practice or games.
- watching General Conference
- playing volleyball 2 nights a week.
- making frozen raspberry jam (thanks mom for the help)
- one last sleep over on the tramp before it was too cold.
(Ok that was the kids and Jason the sprinklers came on in the middle of the night)
-finishing the Twilight Series (Tallie got me hooked on these stupid books and I think I'll croak if I
hear how beautiful Edward is one more time)
- going out to see all the new baby calfs at Grandpa Smith's and one last dutch oven cookout.
- scrapbook weekend with my sisters and cousin Tiffiny at their Bear Lake cabin. Lots of diet
coke and lots of laughs.
- riding bikes
- sleepover for the kids at Grandma Ropers
- trying to stock up my pantry.
After all these hurricanes and the economy as it is, I have been trying to be better at stocking up on
things we could use. So Emily and I went to Maceys in her husbands truck and loaded it up.

Here are a few more random pics from the last few months.

Jason is starting a new job at the Logo shop and so he brought us all home new USU sweatshirts.

The girls were playing "High School" and of course dressing up. They would go from class to class all over the house and come back for books for the next class. My pantry was their cooking class and they even had PE outside. If they think they are dressing like this for High School they better think again.

I was making these for the whole family and Cam thought theywere just for her.

Making homemade breadsticks. It's such a mess, but well worth the effort. Look at the finished products and those proud faces.

Picking the perfect PUMPKIN

Well FALL is here. My sister called and toldme they had huge pumpkins in Nibley for three bucks. So we loaded up and went on the search for the perfect PUMPKIN. There were a lot of big ones which made it hard for them to pick. Good thing there was a port a potty near the patch because we were there for a long time. Then of course they had to pick a tiny pumpkin for their rooms and they found an ugly gourd they picked out to tease their dad.

Sleeping Beauties

One of my very favorite things to do each night is to check on my kids and watch them sleep. We have a little ritual of brushing teeth, vitamins, prayers and pj's and then I read them books and then bedtime.
After I know they are asleep I love to check on them again and make sure they are snuggled up in blankets, and I always get a giggle because Jaiden always has at least one pillow or a few blankets on top of her head. Sometimes I can't even see her because she is so wrapped up. You can usually find her with about 5 or more webkinz in her bed. Camry holds her stuffed animals so tight and she hardly moves all night. She does however like to drool . One time we found Camry with her head inside her pillowcase. One day they will kill me for posting these pictures.
Almost every weekend night they love to sleep together in Jaidens full size bed and tell stories. I think I love this moment because they look so peaceful I know they are at home and are safe snuggled in bed. I could watch them for hours.
